Assoc Prof Rebecca Case’s and Dr Joao Pereyra’s national news feature on coral probiotics

Together with National Marine Laboratory, St John's Island (SJINML), the team identified a naturally occurring probiotic bacterium from the Roseobacteraceae family that helps improve coral resilience to heat stress. This discovery highlights how microbiome science can contribute to protecting coral reefs in a warming world.

Dr Clarence Sim presents key research findings from our lab at the Southeast Asian Marine Heatwave Services Workshop

On behalf of the lab and Professor Case, Dr Clarence Sim presented the key research findings of our lab’s work revolving around thermal resilience of habitat formers such as corals and seagrasses. The workshop was attended by local and regional partners and government agencies.
Dr Sujatha Srinivas heads out for a research expedition with OceanX.

NTU is proud to have Dr Sujatha Srinivas on board OceanX for the Roo Rise Expedition, a 23-day OceanX-led high seas expedition aboard OceanXplorer exploring poorly understood seamount and oceanographic ecosystems in the eastern Indian Ocean south of Java in the High Seas and around Christmas Island. Under the supervisor of Assoc Prof Rebecca Case and Assoc Prof Yann Boucher, Dr Sujatha will be spending the next three weeks on board sampling with the crew for their research.

Assoc Prof Rebecca Case and Dr Clarence Sim host prospective students at NTU Science Discovery Camp 2026

Assoc Prof Rebecca Case and Dr Clarence Sim Wei Hung introduced the camp participants to SCELSE's research, and also engaged them with an epidemiology game, alongside a lab tour conducted by the Case Lab undergraduates Jurek, Kimberly, Yuan Fang and Giorgi.
