Prasha Maithani, Research Assistant / Masters student 2022-2025

• Prasha’s research focuses on the seagrass microbiome, with the aim of understanding below-ground bacterial pathways and the pathogenicity of marine bacteria to their seagrass host. She carries out frequent sampling to monitor the seagrass microbiome, at several sites across Singapore. Prasha also maintains the Case Lab’s extensive bacterial culture collection.

Nguyen Hoang Yen Nhi, PhD candidate 2021-2025

• Nhi’s research examines the dynamics of the algal-bacteria relationship, particularly between the microalgae Emiliania huxleyi and bacteria Phaeobacter inhibens. Her research interests lie in deciphering the role P. inhibens plays in the bloom-bust life cycle of E. hux, an ecologically important microalgae that is ubiquitious in the marine environment.
